Kevin Shires was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and attended Dowling Catholic High School. He enrolled at Iowa State University, where he obtained bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Marketing and a minor in Family Resource Management while graduating with distinction.

Kevin started his career in the finance industry in 2002. Displaying a passion for wealth management, he earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and Chartered Financial Consultant designation in 2008, as well as the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2011.

In 2012, Kevin joined D.M. Kelly & Company and DMKC Advisory Services, LLC, as a Financial Advisor. In 2018, he was named Director of Advisory Services and CFO. Kevin holds the Series 7, 66, 53 and 27 licenses, as well as a license for life, health and disability income insurance in the state of Iowa.

Kevin uses his portfolio design and investment research experience to help individual investors, institutions and nonprofits achieve their financial goals. He loves the team-based atmosphere cultivated by D.M. Kelly & Company and the benefits to clients of working with an independent business.

Kevin, his wife, Amie, and their two children live in Urbandale and are active members of St. Pius X Church. Kevin serves on the nonprofit board and scholarship committee of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity at Iowa State. He participates on the programming committee of CFA Society Iowa, having previously served as president of the organization. He is also involved with the golf committee for the Holy Family Catholic School Foundation.

Kevin often speaks with high school and college groups about the importance of personal finance. He enjoys golf and sand volleyball.
