Tom Kimball was born in Fort Madison, IA and attended Fort Madison CSD High School. After graduation, he attended the University of Northern Iowa where he obtained a BA in 1975.

Tom has been a broker since 1983 when he joined Dain Bosworth, Inc. as an Account Executive. His five years there exposed him to the municipal bond business, a field that he excelled in and continued to explore during his 21 years with Ruan Securities and later D.A. Davidson.

“I like the small company feel that D.M. Kelly & Company exhibits as one of the few firms in Iowa that focuses on municipal bonds. In a way, my career has come full circle. Dan Kelly hired me at Dain Bosworth and exposed me to many of the products that are now the cornerstone of my business,” says Tom.

Tom and his wife Sue have been married for 34 years. They have a son and a daughter who still both live in the Des Moines area. He is active at his church, Trinity Presbyterian where he is an elder and serves on the endowment committee and the finance committee. In his spare time Tom enjoys fishing, restoring and collecting old tractors and sports of all kinds.
