Bob is a native of Des Moines, Iowa and a graduate of Roosevelt High School. The third oldest of four children, his family instilled a hard work ethic upon him from an early age. Bob’s first job as a teenager required him to wake before 4am to work at a local bakery.

Bob’s father was a municipal bond attorney in Iowa and sparked his interest in the bond business. Bob attended the University of Iowa, where he focused his studies on business and received his BBA in finance in 1979. He furthered his academic studies later by receiving his MBA from Drake University in 1982.

After college, Bob worked at Shaw, McDermott & Company. For almost 10 years, he played a valuable role in the growth of the company as Vice President. He furthered his knowledge as a trader during his four years at Kirkpatrick, Pettis and Company as Vice President. Most recently, Bob completed a sixteen-year tenure as Managing Director at RBC Dain Rauscher in Des Moines.

Outside the office, Bob served on the boards of the Des Moines Swim Federation and Glen Oaks Country Club. He also volunteers at Dowling Catholic High School and United Way. Bob and his wife Jody have been married for 30 years. They have three children, Katey, Jimmer and Annie. When he is not working, Bob enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
